Return of Darkness Chapter 2, Lantern

Once Peach and Amy returned to the castle the three heroes pondered the rest of the day figuring out what was that thing they stole from Bowser and Eggman.

Right now while their friends were playing games with each other or playing with their pokemon, Kate, Mario, and Sonic were in the treehouse trying to find out what was this power source that Bowser and Engman got.

At first Sonic decided they should crack it and reveal its contents but Mario and Kate voted against that because of what happened the last time they cracked a power source from Bowser and Eggman (Rise of the Dark Queen).

But as they studied the liquid inside the lantern it started to make sense.

"That's it." Kate said as an idea formed in her head, "Remember when we went into the Anti-Universe and Dr. Kit told us about the Infinity Stones? Well I think we've stumbled upon one."

"Which one though?" Mario asked.

"Kit said it was called the Aether." Katelyn said, "Some sort of reality stone that grants wishes."

"Now it's starting to make sense." Sonic said coming in, "This one's a little odd though because it takes the shape of liquid like substance. That's odd though, why would they sent it to us though?"

"This note might explain this." Kate said picking it up from the lantern.

Here's what it read:

Mario, Sonic and Katelyn

I'm sorry I didn't tell you this sooner but me and the others have reason to believe this is not the end. After we recovered the Tesseract from Dark Duchess and send you guys home we felt that in order to keep the Infinity Stones from getting into the wrong hands we needed to scatter them across the dimensions. We sent the Time Stone to the future, the Soul Stone to the Smashers, delivered the power stone to Tacey and the Aether to you three. As for the Tesseract and the Scepter I along with Caillou and Rosie have it, since we have close eyes on it. I wish you good luck though, there are many others who want these stones for evil needs keep them as safe as possible from them.

P.S: Sorry if we accidentally sent the Aether to Bowser and Eggman, our computers are having technical difficulties now.

"So what do we do with the Aether now that we have it?" Mario asked.

"I'd say we make a wish but somehow I get the feeling that there's something inside we shouldn't mess with." Kate pondered.

"You mean like a nightmare? That's impossible this came from the Anti-Universe, how could a nightmare fit in there?"

"No clue anyway, it's not a nightmare. Too ancient and this Aether is blocking my dream powers."

"Well I vote we give it to Tails." Sonic chirped in, "I mean he's smart. Once we fill him in with the info we have about this, he'll find a way to handle it. What could go wrong?"

Those were the words that Sonic regret saying very soon.
